Jesús returns to Spain. The spring of 1968 goes past. The family he expects to find in Spain is very different from the one he left, before he exiled himself to Argentina. It’s a time of changes, but not in the family, who live regretting that they aren’t the winners of the war that exists only in their hearts.
Already nothing is as it was: Madrid begins to show itself as the city it now is, full of smoke and oppressively fast, more expensive than Buenos Aires; Marcela, married to his brother Eusabio and now separated from him, already old, no longer beautiful, if not an alcoholic, and his family, an exasperated group of youngsters who he doesn’t understand.
Jesús wants to start a life in Spain but has the feeling that he doesn’t belong there. In any case time has turned him into an citizen of the other land, across the sea.
Jesús vuelve a España. Corre la primavera de 1968. La familia que le espera en España es muy distinta de la que dejó antes de exiliarse a Argentina. Es una época de cambios pero no en la familia, que vive profundamente el pesar de no ser los vencedores de una guerra que ya sólo se vive en sus corazones.
Ya nada es como entonces: Madrid empieza a dibujarse como la ciudad que ahora es, llena de humos y prisas agobiantes, más cara aun que Buenos Aires; Marcela, casada con su hermano Eusebio y separada después, ya no es una hermosa joven si no una alcohólica, y su familia, un grupo de desquiciados, muchos de ellos jóvenes a los que no comprende ni entiende.
Jesús quiere iniciar una vida en España pero tiene la sensación de no ser de ninguna parte. En cualquier caso, el tiempo le ha convertido en un habitante de la otra orilla del mar.
