In 1998 the Spanish press wrote and the radios and televisions centred a great part of their attention on a person who up until that moment was not known, a man that since the 23rd of August 1968 has remained humbled in his bed, paralysed and constantly taken care of by his family.

Many years before, Ramón Sampedro, already had elevated his voice to claim that it was his right to die in a dignified manner. But a decision of such a calibre was taken to court and these words were said… it was “Sentenced to life”.

This film narrates the changes of Ramón Sampedro in his attempt so that the legality of his election and this story of love with Ramona Maneiro “Moncha”.

En 1998 la prensa española escrita, y los medios radiofónicos y televisivos, centraron gran parte de su atención en una persona hasta ese momento casi desconocida, un hombre que desde el 23 de agosto de 1968 permanecía postrado en su cama, tetrapléjico y constantemente cuidado por su familia.

Unos años atrás, Ramón Sampedro, ya había elevado su voz reclamando su derecho a morir dignamente. Pero una decisión de tal calibre la debían tomar los tribunales, y estos dictaron sentencia… fue “Condenado a Vivir”.

Esta película narra los avatares de Ramón Sampedro en su lucha para que se concediera la legalidad a su elección y su historia de amor con Ramona Maneiro “Moncha”.

“The Confidence”, an old Spanish insurance agency, is taken over by the North American multinational “Bruster & Bruster”.

Luis, Sinesio, Alpaca, Antonio and Pepe are five office employees from the statistics department that, with the rest of the staff are retrained as executives of accounts through a short course of adaptation managed by Harry “the Dirty one”. Also their wives will be retrained, as they are brain washed.

“La Confianza”, una antigua compañía de seguros española, es absorbida por la multinacional norteamericana “Bruster & Bruster”.

Luis, Sinesio, Paco, Antonio y Pepe son cinco pluriempleados oficinistas del negociado de estadistica que, con el resto de la plantilla son reconvertidos en ejecutivos de cuentas a través de unos cursillos de adaptación dirigidos por Harry “El Sucio”. También sus mujeres serán reconvertidas, tras el correspondiente lavado de cerebro.

Thirty something years old, married with Ana of twenty two, the important executive of the Méndez-Carmona company, Enrique Vázquez, appears to be an absolutely normal man, but there is something in him which separates him from the rest.

It is simply his all-consuming passion for television, which leads him irresistibly towards the erotic world of advertising.

The continuing bombardment of this world finishes with Enrique being led to an uncontrollable neurosis, a breaking point after which the inevitable is a split personality.

Treinta y tantos años, casado con Ana de veintidós, e importante ejecutivo de la empresa Méndez-Carmona. Enrique Vázquez es en apariencia un hombre absolutamente normal, sin embargo, existe en él algo que le diferencia de los demás.

Se trata simplemente de su devoradora pasión por la televisión, que le conduce irremisiblemente hacia el mundo erótico y motivacional de la publicidad.

El continuo bombardeo publicitario termina por llevar a Enrique a una incontrolable neurosis, a una situación límite que de romperse dará paso a una doble personalidad.

In the early seventies, more than 40 thousand Spanish women worked in Paris as servants. Few had been outside Spain before and the majority hadn’t even been outside their own towns.

Among these young girls there are; Emilia (Laura Valenzuela), who has left the difficult times back home and has adapted to the great city; Isabel (Ana Belén), who struggles to get her son on his feet, who gave her a man who then abandoned her.

Dioni (Elena María Tejero), who only thinks about her savings for making a dowry; Francisca (Tina Sainz) who doesn’t understand anything in the huge city and feels lost…


A principios de los años setenta, más de cuarenta mil españolas trabajan en París como sirvientas. Pocas habían cruzado antes la frontera y la mayoría ni siquiera habían salido de su pueblo.

Entre esas muchachas están Emilia (Laura Valenzuela), que ha dejado atrás los tiempos difíciles y se ha adaptado a la gran ciudad; Isabel (Ana Belén), que lucha por sacar adelante al hijo que le dió un hombre que luego la abandono;
