Although only Oso keeps track, it has been seven years since he went to prison for homicide and armed robbery. He is an unpredictable man, violent by nature, or necessity, and in all those years, he has probably never told anyone about what is behind his silences, and the sadness of his looks.

His daughter Alicia turned one on the day of the attack, and his wife Natalia may never forgive him. Now, released on bail, Oso thinks that perhaps he can start all over again. El Turco still owes him for his part in the attack, and though a cellmate, he makes contact with Gúemes, who works as a chauffeur for a taxi agency.

Oso has lost his wife, who is now living with Sergio, and his daughter, who barely remembers him. But Oso is prepared to recover them, or at least to repair some of the damage. Like a disillusioned and urban Western, Un Oso Rojo (A Red Bear) tracks the fate of a marginal criminal in the harsh reality of the Buenos Aries slums.
