Como agua para chocolate

Historia de amor y gastronomía ambientada en México a principios del siglo XX. Dos jóvenes locamente enamorados, Tita (Lumi Cavazos) y Pedro (Marco Leonardi), tienen que renunciar a su amor porque Mamá Elena (Regina Torne) decide que Tita, por ser la menor de sus hijas, debe quedarse soltera para cuidarla en su vejez. Entre los olores y sabores de la cocina tradicional mexicana, Tita sufrirá durante muchos años por un amor que perdurará más allá del tiempo.

This movie is about how life used to be in Mexico. It is a love story between Pedro and Tita, and why they coudn’t get married because Tita’s mother wanted her oldest daughter to get married first, and have Tita to stay and take care of her. It shows how marriage was imposed on those times, and how a love between two people can change everything. This picture set a new epoch in Mexican movies all over the world.

El Mariachi

A young man who earn his living by playing his guitar arrives at  a village on the Mexican border at the same time as a dangerous thug, whose mission is to assassinate the master of the place. Both respond to the same description; they wear a black suit and carry a  guitar. The resemblance between both men confuse the village’s master bodyguards. Without wanting to, the Mariachi will be caught between two fires.

Un joven que se gana la vida actuando en diferentes lugares llega a un pueblo de la frontera mexicana al mismo tiempo que un peligroso matón, cuya misión es asesinar al amo del lugar. Ambos responden a la misma descripción; traje negro y estuche de guitarra en mano. Las coincidencias entre los dos hombres confundirán a los guardaespaldas del amo. Sin quererlo, el Mariachi se encontrará atrapado entre dos fuegos.

Lolo

Dolores Chimal, also known as “Lolo”, is an outcast boy who lives in the suburbs of Mexico City. After being assaulted and losing his job, as a result of a week in hospital, he accidentally kills the local moneylender (an old woman) when trying to rob his mother’s golden watch that she had pawned.

Lolo is then hunted and blackmailed by everybody but his girlfriend, Sonia, who is forced to sell herself at a men’s club to help him. With money in their hands, Sonia and Lolo share the feeling of guilt and shame, and with the events in the neighborhood that have united them to such degree they decide to flee together.

Dolores Chimal, también conocido como el “Lolo”, es un chico de  barrio que vive en los suburbios de la Ciudad de México. Un día es asaltado a la salida de la fábrica donde trabaja y, después de pasar una semana en el hospital, pierde su trabajo.

A raíz de eso, se ve envuelto en una serie de hechos que culminan con la muerte accidental de la anciana de la casa de préstamos donde Lolo trataba de robar el reloj que su madre había empeñado.

A partir de ahí, Lolo tendrá que hacer frente al acecho y amenazas de toda la gente del barrio excepto su novia, Sonia, que se vende en un cabaret para tratar de ayudarle. Con el dinero en la mano, Sonia y Lolo comparten el sentimiento de culpa y vergüenza y, tras lo ocurrido en el barrio, no les queda otra salida que huir juntos.

Rosa Rosae

Rosa Rosae is the store of two women, who when they were children, without realising it, at the time when they swapped a few personal items, exchanged their lives. The desire to be together after the nuns traumatically separate them, makes Rosae, who wants to be a writer, give her diary to Rosa.

Rosa, who wants to be a missionary, gives to her friend a little crucifix that she wears around her neck. Since then each of them have been unconsciously living the other one’s life.

Rosa has become a successful writer (with a novel ‘inspired’ by the diary her friend gave her) and Rosae lives a modern mystic retreat, Guru included. Both of them feel unhappy.

Rosa wants to end all the peace and Rosae is being driven mad by the fame and success. When they meet, each of them is immediately attracted to the other. The conflict won’t resolve itself unless they switch personalities again.

Rosa Rosae es la historia de dos mujeres que, de niñas, sin darse cuenta, al tiempo que intercambian unos objetos personales, intercambiaron sus vidas. El deseo de seguir juntas, de oponerse a la separación traumática que les imponen las monjas hace que Rosae, que quiere ser escritora, entregue su diario a Rosa.

Esta, que quiere ser misionera, corresponde a su amiga entregándole un pequeño crucifijo que lleva colgado al cuello. Desde entonces cada una vive inconscientemente la vidaque le correspondería a la otra.

Rosa se convierte en una escritora de éxito (con una novela “inspirada” en el diario que le dió su amiga) y Rosae vive en un misticismo moderno con Gurú incluido.

Ambas se sienten desgraciadas. Rosa desea ante todo la paz y Rosae se vuelve loca por el éxito y la fama. Cuando se reencuentran, cada una se siente inmediatamente atraida por la otra. El conflicto no se resolverá hasta que no intercambien nuevamente sus personalidades.

Huidos

Two men trapped in the mountains afar after the Spanish civil war, are chased by the army and the civil guards, Juan a mature anarchist (Sancho Garcia) and Marcial (Fernando Valverde) a rebelious youngster. Two different views on life and the warfare situation they are living in. Reunited by the circumstances, these will not be enough for them to stick together. By their side, two women, María (Uxia Blanco), wife of Marcial and Luisa (Sara Mora), lover of Juan, will be shaken by the situation, victims of the desperation and general frustration, all of them catched in between two fires.

Dos hombres, a causa de la guerra civil española, han quedado atrapados en los montes perseguidos por el ejercito y la guardia civil, Juan un anarquista maduro (Sancho Gracia) y Marcial (Fernando Valverde) un joven rebeld. Dos posiciones distintas de ver la vida y la situación bélica que están viviendo pero les unen las mismas circunstancias, eso no bastará para mantenerles juntos. A su lado, dos mujeres, María (Uxia Blanco), mujer de Marcial y Luisa (Sara Mora), amante de Juan, se verán zarandeadas por la misma situación, víctimas de la desesperación y frustación general, todos atrapados entre dos fuegos.
