1988. The Pope John Paul II is coming to visit Melo, a poor small border town in Uruguay. The Pope is starting his Latinamerican Tour at this small village which is expecting more than 50.000 visitors . The humblest locals are convinced that this visit will fulfil their souls’ and wallets’ needs; many believe that by feeding and selling drinks to the multitude money will finally flow in their direction. But Beto has a better idea: he is going to build some latrines to let in front of his house .
Es el año 1988 y el Papa Juan Pablo II va a visitar Melo, una pobre comunidad fronteriza de Uruguay. El Pontífice empezará su gira por Latinoamérica en esta pequeña ciudad en la que se espera a más de 50.000 visitantes. Los más modestos están convencidos de que esta visita será milagrosa para el alma y la cartera; mucho creen que vendiéndole comida y bebida a esa multitud se harán casi ricos. Pero Beto tiene una idea mejor: construirá unas letrinas delante de su casa y las alquilará.
