My Best Enemy (Mi mejor enemigo)

Diciembre 1978. Chile y Argentina están a días de comenzar un enfrentamiento armado en la frontera sur. En la Patagonia, una patrulla chilena rompe accidentalmente su brújula y se pierde en la inmensidad de la pampa. Cavan sus trincheras en algún lugar sin saber si es Chile o Argentina. Comienza una larga espera que interrumpirá una patrulla argentina que se instala frente a ellos. Ambas patrullas esperan ahora la guerra, pero la tensa espera dará paso a la amistad que se da entre seres humanos que son enemigos, pero que confundidos por la soledad de la pampa, transitan en una frágil línea entre el deber y el querer, contando así una profunda historia humana.

Set in 1978, during Chile’s conflict with Argentina over ownership of three islands in the Beagle Canal, ‘My Best Enemy’ follows the story of a Chilean border patrol unit that gets lost on the march to the border.

La niña santa = The Holy Girl

It is winter in the city of La Ciénaga. After choir rehearsals the girls meet in the church to discuss questions of doctrine. These days the conversations are about vocation. What does God want from me? How can we tell the difference between the temptation of the Devil and the call of God? When the teenagers Amalia and Josefina are not taking part heatedly in these discussions, they talk in secret about French kisses. Josefina is from a typical middle class family in the province. Amalia on the other hand lives with her mother Helena and uncle Freddy in the Hotel Termas which belongs to her family. During these days a congress of ENT specialists is being held and the hotel is full of doctors. Dr. Jano, one of the prestigious doctors at the congress, is to be caught up in a web of good intentions but which are to about to make his world crumble.

Es invierno en la ciudad de La Ciénaga. Después de los ensayos de coro las chicas se reúnen en la iglesia a discutir temas doctrinarios. María llena eres de gracia

Seventeen-year-old Maria lives in a small town north of Bogotá with her mother, her grandmother, her sister and her sister’s young son. Maria works on a large rose plantation where she and her friend, Blanca, remove the thorns from the stalks and tie up the roses ready for export. The work is tiring and strict rules apply; the only variety in Maria’s life are the fiestas on the market square she attends with her boyfriend, Juan, on the weekends. Maria has a spirited, impulsive nature. One day, she gets into a terrible row with her boss and promptly decides to throw in the towel. Maria’s relatives are less than pleased. What they don’t know is that Maria is pregnant. She decides to take her chances in the city; on the way there she runs into an old acquaintance, Franklin, a worldly young man whose cool demeanour impresses Maria. Franklin tells Maria about an interesting job as a courier. It doesn’t take Maria long to work out that the job involves drugs; in this case, tiny packets of heroin that are swallowed by the courier and smuggled into the USA. If she agrees, there’s 5,000 US dollars in it for her. She agrees. Lucy has already completed two successful smuggling trips; she shows Maria how to prepare her body for the job and what to do if something goes wrong. Shortly after this, Blanca finds herself caught in the clutches of a group of drug dealers. Two days later, the two girlfriends find themselves on an airplane bound for the USA. Maria has 62 little packets of heroin in her stomach …

Maria tiene 17 años y vive en una población al norte de Bogotá con su madre, su abuela, su hermana y el hijo de su hermana. María trabaja en una enorme plantación de rosas donde ella y su amiga Blanca, quitan las espinas a los tallos y dejan las rosas listas para la exportación. El trabajo es cansado y las normas muy estrictas. La única distracción en la vida de María son las fiestas de la plaza del mercado a las que va con su novio, Juan, los fines de semana. María es de naturaleza impulsiva y alegre. Un día, tiene una terrible discusión con su jefe y pronto decide tirar la toalla. Los familiares de María no están contentos con la situación, y eso que aún no saben que está embarazada. María decide probar suerte en la ciudad. En el camino se encuentra con un antiguo conocido, Franklin, un joven charlatán cuyo porte imperturbable la impresiona. Franklin le habla de un trabajo interesante como correo. A María no le lleva mucho tiempo descubrir que el trabajo implica el transporte de drogas: pequeños paquetes de heroína que el correo transporta en su estómago después de tragarlos para ser introducidos en USA. Si accede, le pagarán 5.000 dólares. María está dispuesta. Lucy ya ha completado dos entregas satisfactoriamente: ella enseña a María como preparar su cuerpo para el trabajo y qué hacer si algo sale mal. Poco después, María caerá en garras de una banda de traficantes, y dos día después las dos amigas están en un avión rumbo a USA. María lleva 62 paquetes de heroína en su estómago…

Mujeres infieles

Cecilia Ureta (María José Prieto), the most famous tv news presenter in Chile, is presenting the results of a survey carried out by the United Nations. This survey shows that 62% of Chilean women are or have been unfaithful.

Ironically, Cecilia is having an affair with the owner of the television channel. A rival colleague maliciously exposes this affair during a live broadcast, with tragic results.

This revelation prompts others, and the subject spreads, to include issues of sexual satisfaction, and turns into a national interest subject.

Irónicamente, Cecilia mantiene una relación extramatrimonial con el dueño de la cadena. Con malicia, un colega rival pone al descubierto este vínculo durante la retransmisión en directo con resultados trágicos.

Familia rodante
