Benito Lacunza (Alberto San Juan) a useless trumpet player returns to the town where he grew up for his fathers funeral. He soon discovers that his kind brother Lalo (Julian Villagran), knicknamed Iron Man because he likes to make sculptures from scrap iron, is about to get married.

His fiancee is Nines (Emma Saurez) a single mother who knows Benito from childhood who Benito knows from their good times. Benito intends to save his brother from such a fate, but doesn’t count on his daughter Ainara (Violeta Rodriguez). She is a rebelious, introverted girl with whom Benito ends up forging an unusual relationship.

La Soledad

Separated, Adela leaves her small native village in the north of Leon and moves to Madrid with her year-old son. A terrorist attack as she rides in a bus shatters her whole being. From then on, she has to find the strength to return to a normal life.

On 2 March 1974, the young militant of the Movimiento Ibérico de Liberación (Iberian Liberation Movement), Salvador Puig Antich, became the last political prisoner to be executed in Spain by strangulation.

This is his story and that of the desperate attempts of his family, friends and lawyers to prevent his execution.

The arrival of Pilar, Martin’s wife with their son Pablo and Mari Carmen, Marcos’s girlfriend, brings an end to their lives as single men in a country with so much freedom.

Martin and Pilar continue to work whilst little Pablo starts making friends at school. When Martin’s father dies they feel it is time to go home as they have achieved what they came in search of. However, they didn´t think that leaving would be so hard.

España 1960. Dos amigos, Martín y Marcos, deciden marcharse a Suiza en busca de trabajo. Dejan a sus familias en España y emprenden un viaje hacia una nueva vida en la Europa del progreso y las libertades.

Con la llegada de Pilar, la mujer de Martín, con su hijo Pablo, y de Mari Carmen, la novia de Marcos, se les termina la vida de hombres solteros que llevaban en un país con tanta libertad.

El trabajo sigue siendo el día a día de Martín y Pilar, mientras el pequeño Pablo comienza a ir al colegio y a integrarse. Con la muerte del padre de Martín, se plantean que lo que habían ido a buscar ya lo han conseguido y es hora de regresar. Para su sorpresa, será más difícil la vuelta que la ida.

La casa de mi abuela = My Grandmother’s house

 My Grandmother’s House looks at the peculiar relationship between Marina, an impulsive and disrespectful 6-year old girl, and Marita, her 75-year old grandmother. The old-fashioned upbringing imposed by the grandmother leads the girl to rebellion, not only against her but against everyone.

Over the years the family´s life is rebuilt leaving behind old emotions and conflicts.

 

La casa de mi abuela indaga en la peculiar relación que Marina, una niña de 6 años, impulsiva e irreverente, tiene con Marita, su abuela de 75 años. La fiesta del Chivo = The Feast of the Goat

Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), 1992. Urania Cabral returns to her hometown. She can barely recognize the old man lying dumb in his bed. He is motionless and almost inert. It is her father, Agustin Cabral, alias “Egghead”, President of the Senate and for many years right hand man of the dictator, Trujillo. That is until he fell into disgrace.

That was a long time ago, however Urania still remembers it 35 years later. She talks with her aunt and cousins who don´t understand why she hasn´t visited them or even her own father for so many years.

Finally, she will confess the terrible secret that will never allow her to move back from her homeland and family. A secret that has ruined her life. The Feast of the Goat is also a story of the men who sacrificed their lives to end one of the bloodiest tyrannies of contemporary Latin American history.

Hermanas

Natalia Levin, an Argentine journalist based in Spain, is reunited with her sister Elena for the first time in nine years, after a long night in 1975, when she was forced into exile.

Elena has settled in Texas, where her husband, Sebastián, works for a multinational company. Natalia remembers the events leading up to her departure that she has never clarified in her mind.

Elena makes an effort to bury her painful memories in the backyard of the “American dream.” The reunion will make both sisters face the truth with open eyes and hearts.

“Sisters” is a story about being uprooted and the need to regain one’s identity through memory. It is a film of contrasts, of two different cultures, languages and decades: the 70’s and the 80’s, Argentina and the United States. The intensity, passion and violence of the 70’s in that Latinamerican country, juxtaposes the comforts, stability and calm of the USA in the 80’s, at the height of the Republican years.

Veinte años no es nada

“Veinte años no es nada” reconstructs the last 25 years of Spanish history from the view point of the workers of the self managed experience of the Numax Factory at the end of the seventies.

These images, together with the worker´s situation 30 years after makes us reflect on the last intense decades that we have lived through.

La experiencia autogestionaria de los trabajadores de la fábrica Numax a finales de los años 70 quedó recogida en un documental que ellos mismos decidieron realizar y que encargaron a Joaquín Jordá en el momento en que estaban a punto de cerrar.

Aquellas imágenes recuperadas, junto con la situación de estos trabajadores 30 años después nos llevan a reflexionar sobre las últimas e intensas decadas que nos han tocado vivir.

Malas temporadas (Hard Times)

ETA´s terrorism has shaped the lives of thousands of Spanish citizens. We know very little of their sufferings and of the silence to which they were subjected.

Men, women and children, some murdered indiscriminately others after suffering cruel persecution, make up the thirteen stories in this documentary. They are a small representation of the large group of people affected by terrorism in our country. Above all this is the physical embodiment of the limitless pain which arises from the injustice of murder and the lack of social solidarity.

Para miles de españoles el terrorismo de ETA ha sido determinante en su vida; pero también el silencio al que fueron condenados. Poco sabemos de ellos y de sus experiencias posteriores.

Hombres, mujeres y niños asesinados, unos indiscriminadamente otros tras ser perseguidos, todos ellos componen las trece historias de este documental. Estas trece historias son una pequeña representación de ese gran colectivo de afectados por el terrorismo en nuestro país.

Camarón

Camarón is the life story of flamenco genius José Monge Cruz, “Camarón de la Isla”. It is a close-up look at this singer-songwriter who innovated flamenco, influencing new generations and breaking down social and artistic barriers.

His desires, his successes, his struggles are reflected by his paticular way of making mucic. The film is divided into three stages: his discovery, his success and his demise.

Through these stages we get to find out about his love life, his national and international fame, his recordings which changed the face of flamenco, his marriage to Dolores, ¨La Chispa¨, his flirtation with drugs and his physical deterioration at such a young age.

Camarón es un recorrido por la vida y obra del maestro de la música flamenca, José Monge Cruz “Camarón de la Isla”. Un acercamiento a este cantautor que innovó en el flamenco, influyó en las nuevas generaciones y rompió barreras sociales y artístiticas.

Sus deseos, sus éxitos y sus luchas se ven reflejados en su visión particular de hacer música. La película esta dividida en tres etapas: el descubrimiento, la confirmación y  reconocimiento-despedida.

A través de ellas, conoceremos sus enredos amorosos, su reconocimiento nacional e internacional, la grabación de discos que revolucionaran la interpretación del flamenco, su boda con Dolores “La Chispa”, el coqueteo con las drogas y su deterioro físico a muy pronta edad.

Obaba

Lourdes, scarcely 25 years old, begins on a trip towards Obaba’s territories. She is carrying a small video camera in her luggage. She wants to catch Obaba reality, its world and its people.

She wants to capture the present, and show it the way it is. But Obaba is not the place that Lurdes had imagined, and she discovers that the people who live there, like Merche, Ismael o Tomás, are trapped in a past that they can not –or they do not want to- escape from.

Antonio Salas (pseudonym), an investigation journalist, loses his friend Víctor to the hands of a gang of skinheads. This leads him to take a drastic and dangerous decision: to infiltrate the neo-Nazi skinhead groups of Madrid to find the assassins.

When he finally manages to get to Martín Solano, one of the main ideologists and the man predicted to be the next Führer, Antonio doesn’t realise that many neo-Nazis don’t shave their heads, and that they actually have very important jobs within society, including the police force…

Princesas

This is the story of two women, two prostitutes, two princesses. One of them, Caye, is nearly thirty and has a fringe from the hairdressers and an ordinary charm.

Zulema is a sweet, obscure, princess in exile who suffers daily from desperation. When they meet they clearly have different opinions and are almost at loggerheads.

Many of the girls here regard the arrival of immigrants to prostitution with suspicion. It doesn’t take long for Caye and Zulema to realise that although they are in slightly different situations they are walking along the same tightrope. The story grows out of their partnership.

Ésta es la historia de dos mujeres, de dos putas, de dos princesas. Una de ellas se llama Caye, tiene casi treinta años, el flequillo de peluquería y un atractivo discutible, de barrio.

Zulema es una princesa desterrada, dulce y oscura, que vive a diario el exilio forzoso de la desesperación. Cuando se conocen están en lugares diferentes, casi enfrentados: son muchas las chicas aquí que ven con recelo la llegada de inmigrantes a la prostitución.

Caye y Zulema no tardan en comprender que, aunque a cierta distancia, las dos caminan por la misma cuerda floja. De su complicidad nace esta historia.

Vientos de agua

The story of Spanish immigrants who went to Argentina, and of their Argentine descendants, who are now immigrating to Spain, escaping from a country in crisis. Vientos de Agua centres on Andres, a young Spaniard who, in the 1930s, flees Spain for political reasons and relocates to Argentina.

The series shows, his flight from Spain and resettlement in Argentina. Andres finds himself in a Buenos Aires tenement, along with other immigrants who accompany him.

He starts begins to form friendships and love stories. Parallel to Andres´ story is the one of Ernesto, a 45 year old Argentine, Andres´ son, who whilst suffering from the crisis in 2001 decides to go to Spain to try his luck and possibly moves his whole family there.

Una historia de emigrantes españoles que fueron a Argentina y de sus descendientes argentinos que en el presente emigran a España escapando de un país en crisis. Vientos de Agua se centra en Andrés, un joven español que en los años 30 huye de España por razones políticas y recala en Argentina.

A lo largo de la serie se narra su huida de España y su llegada y arraigo en la Argentina. Andrés se establece en un conventillo porteño junto a otros inmigrantes que lo acompañan, y va forjando amistades y amores.

En paralelo a la historia de Andrés se cuenta la de Ernesto, argentino de 45 años e hijo de Andrés, que en plena crisis del año 2001 decide irse a España para probar suerte y eventualmente llevar a su familia allí.

El viento

Pain, guilt and the search for happiness are the focal points of Frank’s story – a cattle farmer who has never left his small town in Patagonia. The death of his daughter sends him to Buenos Aires and back into touch with his granddaughter Alina.

Frank comes bearing not only the news of Alina’s mother’s death, but also his own forgotten memories and a secret he swore never to reveal that will have a profound affect on Alina’s life.

El dolor, la culpa y la búsqueda de la felicidad son los ejes de la historia de Frank (Federico Luppi) un campesino de La Patagonia que nunca salió de su pueblo. La muerte de su hija le llevará hasta Buenos Aires para reencontrarse con su nieta Alina (Antonella Costa).

Frank lleva consigo la noticia de la muerte de la madre de Alina, sus recuerdos y un secreto que había jurado no desvelar. La corta estancia de su abuelo renovará los lazos afectivos y permitirá a Alina recapacitar sobre su vida y sus sentimientos.

Cama adentro (Señora Beba) (Live-in maid)

Live-in Maid (lit. bed inside) phrase used to define the condition of an in-house, full-time maid. Dora (51) is the maid of Mrs. Beba (59) and has worked and lived with her for 35 years.

Beba used to be a well-to-do socialite but successive economic and personal crises have worn her out, reducing her to a purveyor of decadence.

Nowadays she finds herself forced to sell door-to-door beauty products. Her thick gold rings, and her maid, Dora, are the last bastions of a lifestyle of which she refuses to let go. Dora came at 17 from the Chaco province to work as a full time maid at Beba’s apartment.

Since then she has managed to start building a house in one of the shantytowns outside Buenos Aires. However, she is unable to complete the construction of her own house because Beba owes Dora six months of salary.

Beba (59) supo ser una dama de clase acomodada. Fue dueña de su propia casa de cosméticos, pero hoy se ve forzada a trabajar como vendedora puerta a puerta de productos de belleza.

Sus gruesos aros de oro y su mucama, Dora, son los últimos bastiones de un estatus que no se resigna a perder. Dora (51) llegó a los diecisiete años desde la provincia del Chaco para trabajar “cama adentro” en la casa de la señora Beba.

Desde entonces, con el dinero de su sueldo ha ido construyendo una casita en un asentamiento de la periferia de Buenos Aires. Sin embargo, Dora no puede terminar su casa porque Beba le adeuda seis meses de sueldo.

El Calentito

El Calentito is set at the beginning of the 80´s. An era full of optimism and new energy. The plot is centred around the story of Las Siux, a female punk group. They are about to put on a concert for a record company who seem interested in producing their first album.

However, everything changes on the night of the concert when the coup d´etat 23-F takes place. This film, with the aide of a great soundtrack, gives us an upclose look at an important part of our history.

El Calentito está ambientada a principios de los años 80, una época llena de optimismo y energía renovadora. La trama se centra en la historia de “Las Siux”, un grupo punk de chicas que prepara un concierto para una discográfica que parece interesada en grabarles su primer disco.

Todo se complica la noche del concierto al producirse el golpe de Estado del 23-F. Con una excelente selección musical del momento, esta película trata de acercarnos a una época crucial de nuestra historia en la que imperaba el cambio y la liberalización a todos los niveles.

25 Watts

Javi, Seba and Leche are three friends who spend their days with nothing to do. Reluctant to work, study or commit to anything, their fun consists of meeting up in the barrio to smoke, drink beer and moan about life.

When they are separated, they each pass the time in different ways: Javi driving a ridiculous car whose loudspeaker advertises products, fighting with his boss´ son who tries to give him lessons in life. Leche studying for his final exam in Italian while trying to seduce his private teacher, and  Seba renting porn films and using his paraplegic grandmother as an antenna…yes, as an antenna.

Javi, Seba y Leche son tres amigos que se pasan el día sin nada que hacer. Reacios a trabajar, a estudiar o a comprometerse, su diversión consiste en juntarse en el barrio a fumar, tomar cerveza y criticar esperando el próximo domingo.

Cuando están separados, cada uno pasa el tiempo de forma distinta. Javi conduce un ridículo coche cuyo altavoz anuncia productos, se pelea con el hijo de su jefe y soporta las lecciones de vida de éste. Leche estudia para el examen final de italiano mientras intenta seducir a su profesora particular. Y Seba se dedica a alquilar películas porno y a usar a su abuela parapléjica como antena… sí como antena.

15 días contigo (Quince días contigo)

Isabel has just recovered her freedom and there is something she knows for sure: she is not going to lose it again.

The appearance of Rufo, an old friend, signifies a contradiction. On the one hand, he gives her company, affection and the knowledge of how to survive. On the other hand, she has the feeling that he is not right one for her.

Isabel acaba de recuperar su libertad, y sólo tiene una cosa clara: no piensa volver a perderla.

 La aparición en su vida de Rufo, un viejo amigo, supone una contradicción, ya que éste le proporciona la compañía, el afecto y la experiencia de saber sobrevivir, a la vez que siente que es el compañero de viaje que menos le conviene.

Cachimba

Marcos is an insignificant middle age bank employee. Marcos only has one objective: to work out how to go to bed with his innocent girlfriend Hilda.

In the middle of winter Marcos took her on holiday to a spa retreat. There he discovered something that would give his life meaning. Inside a house which was about to collapse he found a collection of paintings that were the work of an unknown Chilian painter. He reached some success in Paris in the 30´s.

Marcos es un insignificante empleado de banco de mediana edad. En la mente de Marcos sólo existe un objetivo: conseguir acostarse sin prejuicios ni cohibiciones con su ingenua novia Hilda.

Para ello, Marcos la lleva de viaje a un balneario solitario en pleno invierno. Allí, descubrirá algo que dará sentido a su existencia. En el interior de una casa que está a punto de derrumbarse encontrará una colección de cuadros obra de un pintor chileno desconocido pero que había tenido cierto éxito en el París de los años 30.
