Mucha sangre

Two prisoners Choro and Cortaojos escape from the top security jail, Torre Bruno, with a sole aim: to collect payment of a millionaire debt from their former partner Vicuña.

 On the way to their friend Tiojuan’s scrap-yard they kidnap Iciar, a girl who seems quite naïve. There they arm themselves to the teeth while they plan how to doVicuña in. It’s his fault that Cortaojos ended up in prison while he kept all the loot.

To everyone’s surprise the evil Vicuña has set up a kind of sect and is leading a terrifying alien invasion which is threatening the whole world, starting off with Spain and in particular Almería.

After getting over masses of obstacles (including a crisis in the friendship) , our heroes face Vicuña and his “sect” in a titanic fight, side by side in a desperate effort to save humanity.

Choro y Cortaojos son dos presos que se escapan de la cárcel de altísima seguridad Torre Bruno, con una única intención: el cobro de una deuda millonaria con su antiguo socio Vicuña.

Camino de la chatarrería de su amigo Tiojuan secuestran a Iciar, una chica aparentemente ingenua. Allí se arman hasta los dientes mientras planean cómo acabar con Vicuña, culpable de que Cortaojos acabara en prisión y de paso quedarse con todo el botín.

Para sorpresa de todos, el malvado Vicuña ha formado una especie de secta y está al frente de una terrorífica invasión alienígena que amenaza a todo el mundo, empezando por España y más concretamente por Almería.

Después de superar multitud de obstáculos (incluida una crisis de amistad), nuestros héroes se enfrentarán codo a codo en la lucha titánica contra Vicuña y su “secta”, en un intento desesperado de salvar a la humanidad.

La Selva

Alberto is a young Portuguese with monarchist ideas, who in 1912 is in exile in Belém do Pará. There he is employed by Velasco, a Spanish foreman, to work in Juca Tristao, a rubber plantation in the heart of the Amazon.

After a long journey down the River Amazon under subhuman conditions he arrives at the Paraiso rubber tree plantation where he is put to work collecting rubber in the middle of the jungle under the protection of a local man, Firmino. There, Alberto discovers a world which is strange and wild to him,  in which Indians, fever and human madness are everyday dangers. He also finds friendship, loyalty and the solidarity of the rubber plantation workers against the despotic power of their exploiters.

Alberto es un joven portugués de ideas monárquicas, que en 1912 se encuentra exiliado en Belém do Pará. Allí es contratado por Velasco, un capataz español, para trabajar en el cauchal de Juca Tristao en pleno corazón de la Amazonia.

Después de un largo viaje por el río Amazonas, en condiciones infrahumanas, llega al cauchal Paraíso donde es puesto a trabajar en la recolección del caucho, en mitad de la selva, bajo la protección del cearense Firmino. Alberto descubre allí un mundo que le es extraño y salvaje, en el que los indios, la fiebre y la locura de los hombre son peligros cotidianos. Pero también descubre la amistad, la lealtad y la solidaridad de los caucheros frente al poder despótico de sus explotadores.

La luz prodigiosa

It is August 1936 and the Spanish Civil War is beginning… A young Andalusian shepherd picks up a man who has been left for dead by his executioners and finds shelter for him in a shelter.

The man, wounded by gun shots has ended up in a semi-vegetative state. In 1980 the shepherd comes across this man again. He is now an old man and walks the streets of Granada scrapping a living from begging.

A chance event brings back his deadened memory and the old shepherd makes up his mind to find out who this man really is. Little by little, his investigations lead to a very real possibility that the man might be Federico García Lorca.

Agosto de 1936, al comienzo de la Guerra Civil Española… Un joven pastor andaluz recoge a un hombre fusilado al que sus verdugos han dado por muerto y le busca refugio en un asilo.

El herido, por los disparos, ha quedado reducido a un estado semivegetal. En 1980, el pastor vuelve a encontrar su pista: ahora es un anciano que recorre las calles de Granada malviviendo de limosnas…

Un hecho fortuito reaviva su memoria muerta, y el viejo pastor se obstina en averiguar su auténtica personalidad. Poco a poco, la investigación desemboca en la verosímil posibilidad de que el hombre sea Federico García Lorca.

Carlos contra el mundo

Carlos is a boy from a working-class district of Málaga. He looses his father in an accident, and his family looks to him to become head of the family.

Carlos does not want to accept this role, so the only thing he can think of to get out of this situation is to lie. Each morning Carlos leaves the house, in his father’s old suit, to go to his imaginary job. In order to get the money which the mother asks for he must add to the lie everyday. The lie grows to such proportions that it becomes like a house of cards and it is just as flimsy.

Carlos, un chico de barrio proletario de Málaga pierde a su padre en un accidente y su familia le exige que se convierta en cabeza de familia.

Carlos no quiere aceptar este papel y la única forma que se le ocurre para esquivar la situación es mentir: cada mañana sale con el antiguo tarje del padre hacia su empleo imaginario. Claro, que para conseguir el dinero que la madre le pide tendrá que alimentar esta farsa día a día. Y la mentira crecerá tan alta pero tan débil como un castillo de naipes.

Alex has just left prison. On leaving he finds: an old friend, his mother’s grave, a new brother and a lorry with illegal cargo which is travelling through the desert.

The journey that they make together makes them understand how much they miss each other.

Alex acaba de salir de la cárcel. Al salir se encuentra con un viejo amigo, la tumba de su madre, un nuevo hermano y un camión con cargamento clandestino en el que viajar por el desierto.

Cosa de Brujas

On Midsummer’s Eve in 1980 Miguel Gironza sets off a remote control detonator and blows up the car of his friend and partner, Aristegui.

Remedios and Nemesio two strange old women have witnessed the murder. The next day, together with a young girl, they appear at Aristegui’s funeral. Gironza is completely taken aback when they tell him that from that day on all his dreams will come true: but in exchange for what? He will find out when he sees a black cat with the full moon in front.

Dos extraños ancianos, Remedios y Nemesio, han sido testigos del asesinato. Al día siguiente, acompañados de una niña, aparecen en el entierro de Arístegui: comunican a un sorprendido Gironza que a partir de ese día verá cumplidos todos sus sueños. ¿A cambio de qué? Lo sabrá cuando vea un gato negro con la luna llena en la frente.

Una casa con vista al mar

The Andes 1948. When his wife dies Tomás Alonso and his son Santiago have been left alone in a house in the middle of the mountains together with a pair of oxen and a field for wheat.

Only on certain evenings Tomás Alonso plays the violin. The arrival of a stranger and an unexpected event loosen the knots which tie the story together.

On one hand there is the love and anxiety the father and his son have been developing for the sea, and on the other there is Tomás’ decision; whether to be a good but cowardly man or become a murderer to defend his son. In the end the story plunges towards redemption through violence until it takes Tomás Alonso and Santiago to the edge of their dreams: the sea.

Los Andes 1948. Con la muerte de su esposa, Tomás Alonso y su hijo Santiago han quedado solos en una casa en mitad de las montañas, junto a un par de bueyes y un sembradío de trigo.

Sólo ciertas tardes Tomás Alonso toca el violín. La llegada de un forastero y un incidente inesperado desatan los nudos que tejen la historia: de un lado el amor y la ansiedad que el padre y el hijo se han ido inventando por el mar y, del otro lado, la decisión de Tomás: ser un hombre bueno y cobarde o convertirse en un asesino para defender su hijo.

Al cabo la historia se precipita sobre la redención de la violencia hasta llevar a Tomás Alonso y a Santiago a las orillas de sus propios sueños: el mar.

Kamchatka

Harry is a boy just like any other. He is 10 years old, he goes to school, and he likes board games and watching television.

His father is a lawyer, he mother works at the university and his younger brother, El Enano, is partner to his abuses. In 1976, Argentina falls into the hands of the military dictatorship. Thousands of people are persecuted and kidnapped and this is what happens to Harry’s parents.

 Harry es un niño como cualquier otro. Tiene 10 años, va a la escuela, le gustan los juegos de mesa y mirar la televisión.

Su padre es abogado, su madre trabaja en la Universidad y su hermano menor, El Enano, es socio de sus tropelías. En 1976, La Argentina ha caído en manos de una dictadura militar. Miles de ciudadanos son perseguidos y secuestrados. Ese es el caso de los padres de Harry.

Entre abril y julio

Jules is a lonely night-time radio announcer who wants to settle down. His ex-girlfriend Lola is determined to find him a girlfriend even though Jules never approves. She herself is going to marry Luis a well-known gynaecologist.

April is an Argentinean musicologist who is spending a year in Madrid working on her thesis. Without them realizing they often go to the same places, read the same thing and listen to the same kind of music.

April goes to Luis’s consulting room and Lola is there as well. She immediately decides that April is the perfect woman for Julio and starts to make a plan for them to meet up. April listens to the radio and there is a great link between them.

Finally they meet at Lola and Luis’s wedding but things don’t turn out as hoped and an unexpected event pushes these soul mates apart. But fate can overcome any obstacle.

Julio es un locutor de radio soltero que trabaja por las noches y con ganas de sentar la cabeza. Su ex-novia, Lola se empeña en buscarle novia aunque Julio nunca da el visto bueno. Ella va a casarse con Luis, un celebre ginecólogo.

Abril es una musicóloga argentina que se encuentra en Madrid, por un año, preparando una tesis. Sin ellos saberlo, muy a menudo coinciden en lugares, leen lo mismo, escuchan la misma música…

Abril pasa por la consulta de Luis y Lola coincide con ella. En seguida piensa que Abril sería la mujer ideal para Julio y comienza a urdir un plan para que se conozcan. April escucha la radio y hay una conexión entre los dos.

Dragón Hill. La Colina del Dragón

“Dragon Hill” is a wonderful world inhabited by dragons. It’s protected by four doors; fire, water, earth and air. Only Ethelbert the guardian has the key and knows the secret of how to get out.

This is a place where people from other times and places arrive for many different reasons. This is the case of Septimus a villain who has been shut up there for a long time.

Septimus needs an innocent hand to escape and so he lures Kevin, a young boy who dreams of knightly feats, into this world. In the final battle between Ethelbert and Septimus evil prevails but in the end Kevin’s bravery and the help from his friends Elfy and Maud are to prove decisive.

“La Colina del Dragón”, un mundo maravilloso donde viven todos los dragones, está protegido por cuatro puertas – fuego, agua, tierra y aire. Tan solo Ethelbert, el guardián, tiene la llave y conoce el secreto para salir.

Un lugar al que humanos de otros tiempos y lugares llegan por distintas razones. Es el caso del malvado Septimus, que hace tiempo fue encerrado allí. Septimus necesita una mano inocente para escapar y embauca a Kevin, un muchacho que sueña con las hazañas de caballeros.

En el combate final entre Ethelbert y Septimus, prevalece el mal. Pero al final el valor de Kevin y la ayuda de sus amigos, Elfy y Maud, serán decisivos.

El segundo nombre

One morning Theodore Logan, a respected and successful businessman drives his car to a secluded wood where he inexplicably takes his own life. From this moment Daniella Logan, his twenty-five year old daughter starts to reconstruct the last days of her father’s life to find an answer, a clue, something to help her understand why he did it.

En el más pequeño país de Sudamérica, donde los trenes han dejado de correr hace veinte años, tres viejos y un niño inspirados por el amor a los trenes tratan de impedir la venta a Estados Unidos de la histórica locomotora Nº 33, que ha sido comprada por un productor de Hollywood.

El refugio del mal

Following the rules of a strange game Martin (Daniel Freire), an attractive young man in his early twenties arrives at a mysterious hotel lost in the midst of a leafy forest. Here he waits to find his sister, who in the game he pursues throughout all of the country.

When he doesn’t find her, Martin presumes she has arrived before him and decides to stay in this strange place and simply wait for her. In the meantime he notices Simona, the owner of the hotel, an attractive woman in her forties. In Martín, she finds a distraction from her monotonous days.

Little by little Martin starts to find indications that his sister was there, but everyone denies having seen her. The situation becomes even tenser when Eloisa arrives. She is Simona’s young daughter who immediately starts to compete with her mother to win Martin’s affections.

Siguiendo las normas de un extraño juego, Martín (Daniel Freire, “Lucia y el Sexo”), un atractivo joven, llega a un misterioso hotel perdido en un frondoso bosque. Allí espera encontrar a su hermana, al que, en su juego persigue por todo el país.

Al no encontrarle, Martín cree que ha llegado antes que él y se dispone a esperarle tranquilamente alojado en tan extraño lugar. Mientras espera, su atención se centra en la dueña del hotel, Simona (Rosana Pastor “Sobreviviré”, “Juana la Loca”), una atractiva mujer de más de cuarenta años, que encuentra en Martín una distracción en sus monótonos días.

Poco a poco Martín empieza a encontrar indicios de que su hermana ha estado allí, pero todo el mundo niega haberlo visto. La situación se hace más tensa cuando llega Eloísa (Lucia Jiménez “La Buena Vida”), la joven hija de Simona, que enseguida empieza a rivalizar con su madre en la conquista de Martín.

El Gran Gato

This is a musical documentary which delves into the memories of the extraordinary composer, lyricist and singer Javier Patricio “Gato” Pérez. We attend a concert with fifteen of his songs, interpreted by popular singers of the current musical scene.

Memory (documents) and legacy (work) coexist in the narration and help us to understand Gato and an era of immigration and melting pot, both cultural and idiomatic: sedentary gypsies who created the Catalan rumbo, yearnings for creation around Zeleste, the efforts and wearing down of anonymous artists, a testimony to the struggle and the will to live of a whole generation.

El crimen del Padre Amaro

Mexico 2002. Amaro, a 24-year-old man who has recently been ordained as a priest, arrives at a parish in a small town (Los Reyes) to help Father Benito in the church services.

In this town Father Amaro meets Amelia a lovely young girl of 16. Little by little, Father Amaro realizes what is going on in the town; Father Benito is receiving economic aid from the drug dealers in the region led by El Chato Agular. Moreover, Father Natalio, another priest in the diocese is suspected of helping and encouraging the guerrillas.

Things begin to get complicated when Amelia and Amaro receive the surprising news that Father Benito has had a heart attack and Father Natalio is threatened with being excommunicated. In the midst of all these problems Father Amaro refuses to jeopardize his career as a priest.

México, 2002. Amaro, un joven de 24 años recién ordenado sacerdote, llega a la parroquia de un pequeño pueblo (Los Reyes) para auxiliar en los servicios del templo al Padre Benito.

En el pueblo, el Padre Amaro conoce a Amelia, una hermosa chica de 16 años. El Padre Amaro, poco a poco se va dando cuenta de lo que sucede en el pueblo: el Padre Benito recibe ayuda económica de los narcos de la región, encabezados por El Chato Aguilar. Además, otro cura de la diócesis, el Padre Natalio, es sospechoso de ayudar e impulsar a guerrilleros.

Las cosas se complican cuando Amelia y Amaro reciben una noticia sorprendente: el Padre Benito sufre de un infarto y el Padre Natalio recibe amenazas de ser excomulgado. Amaro, en medio de todos estos problemas, rehúsa a poner en juego su carrera como sacerdote.

Aro Tolbukhin. En la mente del asesino

In 1981 the Hungarian Aro Tolbukhin was arrested for burning seven people alive in the infirmary of the Divino Redentor mission in Guatemala. After his arrest Aro Tolbukhin confessed that he had murdered five women and burnt their bodies.

 He also declared himself guilty of killing seventeen other women, all pregnant, during the fifteen years he worked in the merchant navy. During the legal investigations when these unresolved case documents where examined it was not long before important inconsistencies were found which cast doubt on the guilt which Tolbukin was so keen to take on himself. He was condemned to death.

En 1981 el húngaro Aro Tolbukhin es detenido por quemar vivas a siete personas en la enfermería de la Misión del Divino Redentor en Guatemala. Tras su detención, confesó además haber asesinado a cinco mujeres y calcinar sus cadaveres.

También se autoinculpó de los asesinatos de otras diecisiete mujeres, todas ellas embarazadas, realizados a lo largo de los quince años en que trabajó como marino mercante. Al examinar los expedientes de los casos que aún quedaban sin resolver, no tardaron en encontrarse sustanciosas incoherencias que ponían en duda la autoría que Tolbukhin tanto insistía en atribuirse. Fue condenado a muerte.

El caballero Don Quijote

Since Miguel de Cervantes, an old soldier, wrote down the adventures of Don Quijote and his squire Sancho they have both became famous. After finding out that ‘el Turco’ is sailing down the cost with a dangerous navy in tow, Don Alonso Quijano, and the gentleman Don Alonso Quijano will once more leave, against the wishes of his niece and her nurse, to start a new battle that will start in la Mancha and end at sea.

Dressed in Renaissance-style armour which is quite old-fashioned for the time (1615), this ‘crazy’ knight-errant who everyone makes fun of, starts out on his adventures with his faithful squire. Along the way he stumbles upon his next adventure. He accepts the honours and tributes from the Duke who mockingly tells him that Sancho must be whipped a thousand times to free Dulcinea from a spell.

Después de que un viejo soldado llamado Miguel de Cervantes recogiera las aventuras de Don Quijote y su escudero Sancho, éstos se han hecho famosos. Tras saber que el Turco baja por la costa con una peligrosa armada, Don Alonso Quijano, el caballero don Quijote de la Mancha, saldrá, una vez más, y con la oposición de su sobrina y de su ama, a una nueva batalla que empezará en la Mancha y terminará en la costa.

Vestido con su armadura de estilo renacentista, bastante anticuada para la época, 1615, el “loco” caballero andante del que todos se burlan emprenderá sus aventuras con su fiel escudero. Se topará con su siguiente aventura en medio del camino. Aceptará las honras y homenajes del Duque, quien por burla le dice que para desencantar a Dulcinea Sancho debe recibir algunos miles de azotes.

Deseo

Madrid is trying to heal its scars while Europe is fighting against the upheaval of the Second World War. Elvira needs a job, and finds one in Pablo’s house, an Argentinean businessman of German origin.

This job represents not only a means for Elvira to support her family financially but also the window on a past she thought was lost, a paradise of beauty and poetry which closed for her after the fascists shot her father. Outside the four walls of the house Pablo and Elvira belong to irreconcilable worlds and they know that the passion growing between them has numbered days. Hitler’s suicide speeds events up. Elvira’s husband Julio comes out of prison where he has been locked up for political reasons and he tries everything to get back the woman he loves; even putting her in danger.

This is the story of Carlos, a boy who is looking for his grandfather; a stuntman who worked in westerns many years ago, in those mythical times when the Americans strode the parched earth of Almería.

Carlos never knew his father and his mother has never said anything to him about his grandfather.

Due to this he escapes to Almería in order to meet him. When his mother finds out she can’t take it and swears she will destroy the wild-west village. She works in a big estate agent in Madrid and she manages however she can.

This film deals with a legendary past, when the Spanish experienced the nobility of Hollywood in all its splendour. It is the story of the people who satisfied themselves and were happy in an unreal world, in a ghost town, an oasis in the middle of the desert of boredom which surrounded them.

Es la historia de Carlos, un niño que busca a su abuelo, un especialista que trabajó hace mucho tiempo en películas del oeste, en aquel tiempo mítico donde los americanos pisaban la tierra reseca de Almería. Carlos no conoció a su padre y la madre le ha ocultado la existencia del abuelo.

Por eso se escapa a Almería, para conocerle. Su madre, al descubrirlo, no puede soportarlo y jura destruir el poblado del oeste. Ella trabaja en una importante inmobiliaria de Madrid, y se las arreglará como sea.

Es una película que habla de un pasado legendario, donde algunos españoles vivieron la grandeza de Hollywood en todo su esplendor, la historia de personas que se divierten y son felices en un mundo irreal, en un poblado fantasma, un oasis en medio del desierto del aburrimiento que nos rodea.

Darkness

There’s something in this house, something dark and very old, something motionless, hidden and silent. All it does is wait, hidden in the shadows year after year scheming. In fact it thrives in darkness, as it is only in the dark that it can assert itself and move.

 It has lived here since someone tried to call it forth it more than forty years ago. Because this house harbours a secret, an abominable past, an act of unconceivable evil…. Seven children, faceless people, a circle which must be completed.

And blood, lots of blood… And a new family has just moved into this house. A young boy. An unstable father likely to lose his nerve at anytime. A perfect target. The right place at the right time. The final master stroke of the darkness.
