Returning home from the Second World War, a young American soldier (Keanu Reeves) meets the beautiful daughter (Aitana Sanchez-Guijón) of a vineyard-owner by chance, and helps her defy her dominant father by pretending to be her husband. 

The enchanting sensuality of a harvest festival ignites a passion between them as they realise that their romance will not be an easy one, and they will have to fight against all the odds in order to be together.
