Matías is a linesman. He is honest about everything, such as when he blew the whistle on a penalty in the world cup match that eliminated Spain. He barely escaped alynching. His only escape is San Amancio, a tiny village on the Galician coast whose inhabitants are only concerned with the contraband “Licor del Santo”.
There, Pellejo, sees in the arrival of his son the opportunity to make something of value, his friends. When it is revealed that the ‘linesman’ is taken by the ‘referee’, the problems of Matías are going to start again.
Matías es juez de línea. Su honestidad a toda prueba le hace merecedor de un intento de linchamiento por pitar un penalti en un partido que supone la eliminación del equipo español del mundial de fútbol. Su única posibilidad de escape es San Amancio, un pequeño pueblo de la costa gallega cuyos habitantes se dedican en exclusiva al contrabando de “Licor del Santo”.
Allí, el Pellejo ve en la llegada de su hijo la oportunidad de hacerse valer ante sus paisanos. Cuando logra que el “juez de línea” sea tomado por “juez” a secas, los problemas de Matías no habrán hecho más que empezar.
